Care and User Manual

Dear customer, please read this guide carefully and follow the instructions provided herein on how to use and care for your sofa. This helps to ensure a lasting aesthetic appearance and long service life for the product. Bellfire shall not be liable for any defects in the product resulting from improper installation, use, and/or maintenance thereof.

Care instructions for upholstery fabrics

Only use cleaning agents and care methods that are suitable for upholstery fabrics. Avoid using bleaching agents, rubbing, and excessive water on coloured fabrics. Clean the sofa regularly with a vacuum cleaner using gentle suction and a special furniture-cleaning nozzle. Cleaning agents should first be tested on a small hidden section of fabric, such as the bottom edge of a pillow or the bottom of the sofa. Bear in mind that upholstery fabric may naturally stretch a little over time, which can lead to slight wrinkling, depending on the intensity of use and the type of the fabric.

When washing upholstery fabrics, refer to the relevant fabric care instructions. After washing, it is recommended to place the covers back on the sofa while still damp, in order to prevent them from losing their correct shape during drying. Please note that excessive washing and vacuuming, as well as synthetic blankets and seat covers, promote the generation of static electricity, which can result in pilling.

Fading and ambient temperature

Exposure to direct sunlight can cause the fabric to fade, i.e. the colour and quality of the fabric to degrade over time. Upholstered furniture should be stored in a dry and warm location where the ambient temperature does not fall below 10 °C and the relative humidity is from 40–60%. Excessive moisture or cold can damage the product.

Care instructions for feather pillows

Feather pillows need regular fluffing to maintain their fluffiness and shape. We recommend fluffing seat cushions once a week and back cushions once a month. For the best results, remove the cover from the pillows and take out the foam insert during fluffing. We also recommend reversing the foam insert in the feather pillows from time to time: this helps to maintain the attractive shape of the pillows. Additionally, it helps reduce the sagging of the filler material in sections that are subjected to more wear from sitting than others.

Bear in mind, however, that a slightly irregular shape is a natural feature of feather pillows, not a defect.

Also note that:

furniture is often upholstered using various filler materials, such as foam, batting, and feathers. Over time and with intense use, these filler materials can shift, change shape, and become deformed under the cover material of the sofa. These changes are not considered as resulting from defective workmanship, as upholstered furniture can never be expected to retain its shape fully.

Care instructions for metal mechanisms

The metal mechanisms of sofa beds and beds should be lubricated 1 to 2 times a year by applying general-purpose lubricating oil.

Relocating your furniture

We recommend relocating your furniture by lifting, as dragging can cause the feet of the item of furniture to become deformed and damage the floor. Lift the frame by supporting it from below. In addition, it is recommended to install protective felt pads under the feet of your sofa/armchair to avoid scratching the floor.

Sofa backrests and armrests

The backrests and armrests of the sofa are not intended for sitting. In some models, the softer foam inserts in the armrests can start to sag over time, degrading the original appearance of the sofa and causing the fabric to become creased. In the worst cases, the backrest or armrest can even break due to how the frame is constructed.

Bed mechanisms of sofa beds

The bed mechanisms of sofa beds are intended for the use of the sofa as a temporary bed, not as a permanent bed. Since sitting on the edge of an open sofa bed can cause the mechanism to bend, an open sofa bed should also not be used for sitting or jumped upon. Jumping around is also advised against for regular sofas and armchairs.

Pets

Pets can unwittingly scratch or soil the fabrics of upholstered furniture, and the saliva and other secretions of pets can be corrosive to furniture materials.

Excessive loads

Do not use the sofa as a surface on which to store heavy items: constant excessive loads can damage the cover fabric and cushioning. Please also take care not to overload the furniture by seating more than one person on a single seat.

Transport

The product should be transported in a vehicle where it is protected against crushing, falling, scratching, etc. When lifting the product, please make sure that you have sufficient help available. Any damage caused during transport of the product by the customer is not covered by the warranty.
